It is made up of a plastic polymer that is slightly curved at the tip to follow the normal pelvic cubature. It is 26 cm in length. The hook looks like a crotchet, which helps gynecologists break water to induce labour.

The outer part of the tip is rounded, and the hook is profiled in order to prevent any damage to the surrounding tissues during insertion for vaginal delivery.

SMB Amnion Hook is used for artificially rupturing the membranes of the amniotic sac to release the amniotic fluid for childbirth.

Procedure :

An amniotic is performed by an obstetrician in a labour or delivery room, with the patient lying on a hospital bed. In some cases, the patient is asked to stay in a semi-sitting position to minimize cord compression and ensure a good oxygen supply to the fetus.

To perform Amniotomy, A thin, plastic tool called an Amniotic Hook is used. To break the amniotic sac, the healthcare provider inserts the Amniotic Hook through the patient’s vagina. Post-identifying the amniotic sac, which seems like a water bag, a rupture is made to its outer membrane to channel its fluid outside.
